Local Service Projects

Skip1 #GloveBags.

Feeding the Homeless in Your Area.

What are GloveBags?

Skip1's GloveBags are compact care packages designed to be kept in your car or carried with you - filled with essentials like socks, hygiene items, chapstick, ponchos, and other small but meaningful supplies.

These bags provide practical help and create a bridge for compassionate, genuine interactions with people experiencing homelessness.

Why GloveBags matter?

  • Dignity in giving

GloveBags offer thoughtfully packaged items that meet real, everyday needs.

  • Conversation starter

The bags are easy to hand out and open doors to real human connection.

  • Empowering volunteers

Packing GloveBags is a meaningful, low-cost group activity suitable for families, churches, workplaces, or schools.

How to run a local GloveBag project

1

Gather
Supplies

Use gallon-size zip-top bags and fill them with items like socks, wet wipes, rain ponchos, small toiletries (shampoo, lotion), trash bags, gift cards, etc.

2

Organize an Assembly Event

Invite friends, family, co-workers, or your community group to put together an "assembly line" to pack multiple GloveBags efficiently.

3

Distribute Thoughtfully

Keep GloveBags in your glove compartment, back seat, or trunk to hand out organically - at traffic lights, around your neighborhood, or during outreach.

4

Build Relationships

Start a conversation and ask how the person is doing, offer a kind word, or simply provide a moment of respect and dignity.

5

Reflect & Share

After your event or outreach, reflect on your experience. Share stories or photos with Skip1 or on social media to inspire others.
